Scheduling Timelines

  • January 21: Scheduling sheets distributed to students. (See SCHEDULING SHEETS for PDF copies).
  • January 31: Scheduling sheets - signed by parent/guardian - due to Counseling Office.
  • February 3–27: Counselors meet with current grades 8–11 students/parents/guardians to discuss scheduling sheets, career opportunities, and enter course requests. Counselor will provide the family with a Schedule Verification Form to verify the course requests.
    • NOTE: If parents/guardians do not request to attend the meeting by February 7, 2024, counselors will proceed to meetings with students only, while sending and/ or emailing the Schedule Verification Form to parents and students.
  • Week of June 2: Students receive tentative schedules for 2025–26 school year.
  • August 15: Final day for any current Fort Cherry student to change schedules prior to first day of school.

New Courses for 2025–26

New Horticulture Pathway Course for 2025-26 school year:
  • Agronomy: Grades 11-12    Prerequisite: Conservation Science
    Agronomy explores the science and technology of growing plants for society’s benefit, including food, fiber, fuel, chemicals and other economic uses. Students study advanced topics in soil science, plant physiology, plant health, plant breeding and genetics, as well as prepare for pesticide applicator certification. Special topics related to agronomy and horticulture, including turfgrass science, orchards and landscape management, are also discussed.
New English Course for 2025–26 school year:
  • English 11: Grade 11 (Students may take English 11, AP English, or CHS Argument)
    English 11 enhances communication and critical thinking skills essential for 21st-century success. This course explores literature as a reflection of cultural, historical, and social movements by studying novels, plays, poetry, and informational texts. Students will analyze themes, literary techniques, and authorial intent while building interpretive and analytical skills. Writing assignments include analytical essays, creative projects, and research papers, emphasizing clear communication, effective argumentation, and style. The course also incorporates vocabulary building, grammar instruction, and oral presentations to strengthen language proficiency. Aligned with Pennsylvania’s “future-ready” vision, English 11 equips students with the advanced literacy and problem-solving skills necessary for success in college, careers, and civic life. Students will create a résumé and cover letter during the course.
New Junior High Rotation Courses:
  • Exploring Math 7: Grade 7
  • The goal of this 9 week rotation is to develop strong math skills at the 7th grade level and provide students an opportunity to expand their math experiences beyond the traditional math courses required for students in seventh grade. Students will engage in problem solving techniques, application problems, and apply knowledge parallel to their core math class. Students will be involved in a variety of activities that encourage students to explore mathematical concepts and problems, as well as the practical applications of mathematics in real-world situations. Mathematical concepts will be tailored to the students’ needs based on formative and summative assessment results.
  • Exploring Math 8: Grade 8
    The goal of this 9 week rotation is to develop strong math skills at the 8th grade level and provide students an opportunity to expand their math experiences beyond the traditional math courses required for students in eighth grade. Students will engage in problem solving techniques, application problems, and apply knowledge parallel to their core math class. Geometry 8th grade PSSA standards will be addressed in detail. Students will be involved in a variety of activities that encourage students to explore mathematical concepts and problems, as well as the practical applications of mathematics in real-world situations. Mathematical concepts will be tailored to the students’ needs based on formative and summative assessment results.
