Mr. Mayer grew up in Ambridge, PA, graduating high school in 1988. He then attended Clarion University as a student-athlete playing baseball. Mr. Mayer graduated in 1993 earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education. He briefly worked at Allegheny Valley School prior to obtaining a teaching position in the Western Beaver County School District. His tenure as teacher, head baseball coach and assistant football coach spanned from 1995 through 2005. He served as a teacher and assistant baseball coach in the Riverside Beaver County School District from 2005 to 2007. In 2006, he attended and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh, earning a Master of Education degree and K-12 Principal Certification. In 2007, Mr. Mayer accepted an Assistant High School Principal position in the Shenango Area School District, which lasted until 2013. He was hired at Fort Cherry in 2013 as the Assistant High School Principal, Junior High School Principal in 2014, and named Elementary Principal in 2017.
Mr. Mayer’s roots are tied to this area. His mother graduated from McDonald High School in 1957 and his father graduated from Burgettstown High School in 1955. He is the youngest of four children, having two older brothers and an older sister. Mr. Mayer resides in the Blackhawk Area School District with his wife Aimee, daughter Lainey and his son, Brady.
In his spare time, Mr. Mayer enjoys hunting, fishing, golfing and camping.
