July 1, 2024
Dear Fort Cherry Families,
As we prepare for the 2024–25 school year, we are planning to continue with our 1:1 Chromebook program as it operated last year. By implementing a device upgrade rotation, we are continuing to increase overall reliability of our fleet and decrease downtime for students.
Once again this year, the District will be offering an optional insurance policy on all District-owned devices. This insurance will cover your child’s device against accidental damage or breakage.
Please keep in mind that these devices are district property. As a result, any damage to them that is not covered by an insurance policy will be the responsibility of the family, the same as any school-owned textbook or materials. This means that there are no longer any “free” break fixes that are not defined as “normal wear and tear” on the device. Either the repair will be covered under the device warranty purchased by the family, or the cost of repairs will be billed by the District directly to the family. A summary of costs as of July 1, 2024 is available in the 1:1 Device Handbook; however, please note that the District will charge market price for any repair and/or replacement when the damage occurs.
